The Yerba Mate, often called by us simply Mate, is a plant native to South America: it is traditionally drunk in company. It contains Matina, a substance similar to caffeine but without its negative implications. It is able to stimulate the central nervous system and increase energy. It also contains very low levels of caffeine.
It also has antioxidant and diuretic properties, because it is able to increase the physical metabolism: it is therefore indicated for those who follow a low-calorie diet. It keeps cholesterol at bay, regulates blood circulation and increases the supply of oxygen to the heart. It contains vitamin C, B vitamins and vitamin J, also known as choline.
Dried leaves can be found in organic shops and herbal stores.
