Dandelion coffee is a very popular preparation in North America, which is made using the roasted dandelion root. It can be found in herbal medicine, often mixed also with barley or chicory: it does not contain caffeine. It tastes very similar to coffee but is less acidic and bitter.
It is also rich in minerals such as potassium, iron and calcium. It purifies the liver and blood, has diuretic properties and helps regulate the gastrointestinal system. It is often used as a cure for anaemia and acne.
Warning: If you suffer from kidney stones, gastritis or ulcers it is better to avoid dandelion coffee.
