Mysterious Places Around The World #4. The Nazca Line – Peru
Scarring their way round the dusty desert landscapes of southern Peru, the Nazca Lines are amongst the most mysterious and awesome prehistoric remains in all South America.
And while they typically take a backseat to the nation’s other significant tourist attractions — Machu Picchu, The Sacred Valley, Cuzco – they do draw in their fair share of traffic. Most elect to do flyovers and see the fantastic wonders from above, which is when the inquisitive geoglyphs depicting spiders and monkeys come into full view.
Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, nobody actually knows why they were produced by the early Nazca people.
